What to Do If You See Symptoms of a Serious Neck or Back Injury

- Call 911 immediately
- Immobilize the head, neck, and shoulder to prevent movement
- Do not attempt to move the person unless they are in danger (such as in a burning vehicle or another immediate zone of danger)
- If the person needs to vomit, roll the head, neck, and body as one unit so the individual rests on their side (keeping the head, neck, and back in line during rolling)
- If the person is not breathing, proper CPR may be required
- If the person does not have a pulse, begin chest compressions
